Awesome-ness

5 comments:
Too much Kung-Fu Panda, hence the title. Why do 3 year olds watch something on repeat day in and day out, surely it's just as boring for them as it is for the poor parent enduring it while trying to humm out the dialogue that is slowly permanently imprinting itself in my brain. Sheesh I have trouble remembering important things but ask me to recite Kung-Fu Panda, Wall-E, The Little Mermaid, The Bee Movie etc etc and no problems.

Anyway, I digress... back to the awesomness... I got a couple of comments on my blog for this post in the last few days, turns out it's been shared here and here. (Update found this one today too here. These sites have some great ideas for gifts)

And I got another email this evening from Bec from the BrisStyle blog and I won one of Rebecca from Edward and Lily's little scented birds. Can't wait to get it.

Pure awesom-ness. Now where can I get some dumplings at 9pm at night. Watching, or in my case, listening to Kung-Fu Panda always makes me crave dumplings.

Short and Sweet

5 comments:
Long time no post, lot's to catch up on but crazy busy so here's a quick rundown.

The bag was sold in less than a day! Along with a sold Itti Pouch my donation so far to the Red Cross for the Victoria Bushfire Appeal has been just under $60. I've been helping out the Handmade Help team with blog design stuff, go and check out the work the ladies are doing, it's fantastic.

Finished just before the fires, a new wallet. I'm a crazy-budgeter. Each week I budget what we are going to spend on what, so I made this up with all the different sections. So far, two weeks in, it's working really well.

Some shorts for Isabella. These are from the Oliver and S Puppet Show set and I love the pockets! I modified this pair to not have the gathered leg opening.

A finished present for a little girl turning 1. The embellished singlet I posted about before, but the bloomers were made today from the Oliver & S' Tea Party pattern. I tried them on Liam who is in a size 1 and they fit really well. He didn't want to take them off, making me chase him... hmm a little boy in pink flowered bloomers, his Daddy would be proud.

My Amitie VIP mailout arrived this week. I love the colours, wouldn't they make a nice quilt?

Lastly be sure to checkout this new etsy shop selling gorgeous outfits and jewellery. One of the owners is the talented PinkLizzy and we are the proud owner of one of her bubble dresses and they are devine.

Hopefully I'll be back soon! Work is a crazy.

Victorian Bush Fires

1 comment:
Victoria Burns

I had something to post about today that I made last Friday but instead of posting it I have been attached to the devastating news of the fires in Victoria.

Thankfully our friends and family in Victoria have been out of harms way but the number of people who have had their lives forever changed from this disaster is horrific. When I read the paper on Sunday morning it was reporting that 14 people had sadly perished, however each time I go over to news.com.au or a newsflash scrolls across the TV screen it is getting higher and higher and now 126 fatalities and climbing with expectations to be over 250. 750 homes are gone leaving thousands homeless. The notion that whole entire towns have now been wiped out, no buildings left is unfathomable and to think some of them were deliberately lit.

There are so many ways for people to help, but for now the best way is donations so that people can buy what they need right now. So many people have nothing left in their lives other than what they were wearing when they fled their homes. Soon I would love to make some soft toys for those children who now have nothing of their own, but tomorrow we will be heading to our local bank and making a monetary donation. The Red Cross is doing amazing work helping everyone and are raising donations through their website.

In such a horrible time for so many, it is comforting to see so many individuals and businesses from around Australia and the world coming together to help people they have never met before try and rebuild their lives.

May everyone's friends and families stay safe and our heartaches for anyone who has lost a loved one. Keep safe "firies".

Update: Cindy at Bug and Pop has contacted me about an auction she is organising where all proceeds are going to the Red Cross. Tonight and tomorrow I'll be making up a few things to donate, maybe a messenger bag?. If you are able to help go over to Cindy's site and let her know. If you don't have anything to donate for the auction, be prepared to shop big on all the goodies! I'll post links to the auction when I get them.

I just love these embellishments.

Baby Blanket

3 comments:
Baby blanket measuring approx. 35 x 30 inches for a little girl due later in the year. I came across some lovely images on flickr of zig zag quilts so made up the top using a zig zag pattern from these green, pink and cream cottons and then lined and backed with a soft pink flannel. Warm enough for a blanket but still a little padded if being used on the floor.

I got to test drive my walking foot on it's first whole project and while it only had to feed the cotton and 2x layers of flannel so not too thick, it came out beautifully. Can't wait to try it on an actual quilt.

Proximidade

2 comments:

The lovely and talented Gilly gave me an award.

Proximidade is described as:
'This blog invests and believes in PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes for self-aggrandizement! Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers!'

This blog award should be sent to your favorite eight bloggers and they, in turn should forward to eight of their favorites. You should include the text for Proximidade (above) in your announcement blog.

OK so I have alot more than eight bloggers that I find "exceedingly charming" and I've probably already linked or sent awards to most of them already, but here are some of the blogs that I head to with my morning cup of tea every morning to see what's going on in their world...

TinnieGirl
CurlyPops
Damn Gilly already tagged Hoppo Bumpo, can I double tag :-)
Ellie
PinkLizzy

Of course there's a WHOLE heap more in my bloglines that I read every morning but sheesh I can't write down all 231 blogs can I? I love reading blogs.
