Banyan shorts and tee

Banyan shorts Banyan shorts Banyan shorts Pattern: Banyan Shorts by Figgy's
Fabric: Cotton from The Remnant Warehouse

A new pair of shorts made for Isabella, not just any shorts but fancy shorts. Love the details in this pattern, the zipper hidden under the fly cover, button up, pleats, elastic back, pockets back and front and the turned up cuff.

I amended the pattern slightly by using button elastic and left a small spot each side of the elastic to put a button in to make them adjustable. Perfect little shorts for the last of the odd warm days, and next summer I'll be making more for everyone.

I also made each of the girls a Banyan tee each. Bella's is a touch short, but Eva's fits perfectly. I plan on getting back to the Remnant Warehouse shortly for more knit supplies to make some more plain t-shirts.

The Great British Sewing Bee

No comments:
Have you seen it? It's only 4 episodes long and I devoured three of them yesterday in a row while multi-tasking between dinner, homework etc. If you haven't seen it, here are some links to the episodes on YouTube.

Episode 1
Episode 2
Episode 3
Episode 4

I have also been slowly watching last season and catching up on this season of Fashion Star and the two shows are very different. In Fashion Star the contestants only design the outfit, then someone else does the sewing and they are judged on how well they would sell in store. The GBSB is all about home sewers, judged on modifying a purchased piece, how well to follow a pattern, the quality of the sewing and the finished item. I love it, watching the contestants having their little cups of tea, but also the sewing tips from the judges.

Now excuse me, I have preoccupied Eva with a Peppa Pig DVD, the house has been cleaned, vacuumed and I have a coffee ready to watch the finale with some knitting.

Fat Mum Slim Photo a Day May 2013

No comments:
This month I'm going to play along with Fat Mum Slim's Photo a Day again. I did it back in October, and just like then I'll be Instagramming mine (@princess2monkey). The details are over here if you are going to join in, and if you do let me know so I can make sure I'm following you on Instagram. I love seeing the different interpretations for each day's prompts.
I bought this! is the prompt for the 1st of May, quite appropriate since my nice big stack of patterns arrived from the US yesterday afternoon. I don't have any fabric for these babies yet so a shopping trip might be on the cards soon so I can get into them.
