The second Blogtoberfest finishes today and I made it without missing a single day. I even have a few "backup" posts that I thought of along the way still saved to work on that I came up with "incase".

Blogtoberfest Day 29: Bagels
I made bagels. Yep all from scratch, and they cost next to nothing, certainly not $4 for 4 like at the Supermarket that we can eat in one sitting for breakfast. They taste GOOD and with a little help from the bread maker machine, no effort.

Blogtoberfest Day 28: The Red Thread
Who doesn't know Lisa @ The Red Thread? Well you should go over, her stuff is fantastic (drool over the Sushibird tiles) and her blog has had a mini-facelift a la Cameron Solutions (aka me).

Blogtoberfest Day 27: Eye Spy... Something Cuddly
Every evening just before dinner you'll find these too cuddling up on the couch using floor cushions as blankets. It's the wind down towards bed when everyones just too tired to do anymore. I'm normally wedged between them. Thanks to Cindy and Bek for this weeks Eye Spy.

Blogtoberfest Day 25: Handmade around our home
Handmade goodness hanging in our kitchen courtesy of Ellyn from a swap we did, a pair of towels (one always on rotation) and the red crochet number hanging up. I love red in our kitchen.

Blogtoberfest Day 24: Handmade around our home
A birthday present for Liam handmade by a lovely crafty friend. Mr Robot has found a home at the end of our kitchen and disappears during the day to drive trucks and build lego towers but re-appears each night so he stays safe.
What are some of the handmade touches in your home?

Blogtoberfest Day 23: Etsy Shop Update
My etsy and Madeit shops have laid bare for months (not that I ever had much in them), but I loved making up the curvy clutches the other day, and as I sewed away so many ideas of what I could make them with came to me.

Blogtoberfest Day 20: One for me and one for you
Hands up who thought my lil' ole blog had turned all knitty on you? Yep I've caught the knitting bug but a certain little pattern I keep going back too finally found it's way into my shopping cart and next thing I knew the lounge room floor was covered in fabric and pattern pieces and the sewing machine humming away. So finally, 3 weeks into Blogtoberfest, I have a giveaway to share.

Blogtoberfest Day 17: Eye Spy... Bed
Miss Muggins came up with this weeks Eye Spy, a peek into our bedrooms, and yes I'm a day EARLY, but Friday's are kids-at-daycare-clean-house-frenzy days so while it was clean I photographed.

Blogtoberfest Day 12: Lazy Days Skirt #1
My first Lazy Days skirt as part of the Sew-A-Long Melissa is hosting. I really should work on more exciting backgrounds than my floorboards. I love this pattern, it is so quick and I managed to sew it while a batch of Giant Vanilla Bean Cookies from Joy the Baker were baking away...

Blogtoberfest Day 11: Abracadabra
Just home from a 4th birthday party. Our first Halloween party but *someone* refused to go as anything remotely scary so went as a magician.... with a sparkly pink hat.

Blogtoberfest Day 7: My links for knitting basics for beginners
I am not "a knitter", I count myself as a beginner still, sure I have grand expectations of what I will be able to make, but I have slowly come to enjoy knitting. For an impatient person I actually find it relaxing to be able to pick up something crafty, work for 10mins and then be able to leave it, unlike sewing.
When I got the knitting-bug last year I was determined to teach myself. I borrowed books, read instructions, and ended up with balls of frogged yarn and wrinkles that aged me 10 years. Then I checked out Youtube. I am truly a visual learner. Show me in real-life, give me a project/software program to play around with and I'll figure it out, but give me the manual and I'm snoring in 10 minutes.
There are so many ways to cast on, increase, decrease, cast off it's confusing. Some patterns call for a certain method, others just seem to let you do it "your way". So these are the videos and links that I bookmarked and returned to (regularly) while I taught myself the basics before tackling the fancy-schmancy ways.

Ravelry is my knitty & crochet best friend. I love browsing patterns, being able to search on specific yarn and seeing other peoples projects is great when trying to make decisions on what to make.

Blogtoberfest Day 5: Backpack
Isabella is going to her first birthday party for a friend from daycare this weekend. What do you get a 4-year old boy who you really have no idea what they like?

Blogtoberfest Day 4: Skirts for moi...
Made last week and inspired by this.
This one was made up a while ago but finally not in the laundry-being worn cycle. Super comfy and has no elastic, zippers or buttons, just a tie so you can make it fit to however is comfortable for you. I based it on Thai Fisherman Pants, but as a skirt. Super quick to make too.
I could make dozens of each of these skirts and wear them everyday. (They look much better when on by the way. My floorboards don't have much of a figure)

Blogtoberfest Day 3: My latest knitting adventures
As promised yesterday, my latest knitting projects from the past week and a bit
Big garter stitch thingy.
Big.
Lots of garter stitch.
And a big button
Very round!
Very cosy!
Wear it buttoned, or draped and unbuttoned
There's also a pair of socks on the needles that are my "swimming lesson" socks. Easy to transport and no remembering of the pattern, just pickup and knit a few rows while avoiding being splashed by flailing legs and arms in the water.

Blogtoberfest Day 2: Christmas in October...
Talk about Ellyn spoiling me! Everything is beautiful, the red she picked to go with our kitchen co-ordinates perfectly and I can't wait to give those Shrinky Dinks a go like the pins in the pincushion she sent. I was expecting ONE sheet, not a whole pack! Did you know Ellyn uses ground up walnut shells in her pincushions?
